Our Little Explorers choose to read The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle this morning. They were fascinated by the web the spider made, so we extended their own interests by making a web of our own. This would also make a lovely Halloween or Mini beast themed activity.

Here's how to do it
You will need
Thick cardboard - preferably from an old cardboard box
Adult scissors
Wool
Plastic Spiders (optional) - These are much easier to find around Halloween.
What to do
1. Cut your card into rectangles
2. Cut a rectangular hole in the middle
3. Cut an indent in all for sides first, then cut of the corners. You are aiming to make the fence post from the story

Read The Very Busy Spider with the children.
4. Tie on a piece of wool and let the children wrap it around the cardboard and weave in and out of their design to make a spiders web

5. Add your spiders (Optional).
